Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is one type of Meridian Tapping. It was put together by Gary Craig, an engineer who got interested in alternative medicine. He studied with Dr. Callahan, who recognized the link between psychology and the meridians and made a complicated system to use them together.
Gary came up with a simple system that involved tapping on the ends of the meridians while focusing on a specific issue, either physical or emotional. He then taught his system to a group of therapists, and asked them for feedback. The results were phenomenal, and Emotional Freedom Technique started to gain traction. Gary made his program available for a very low cost, and it spread. Other tapping modalities were developed, and several adaptations of EFT also have emerged, some with and some without Gary’s approval. EFT has its limitations, but it is easy to learn, easy to use, and it works.
For more information, check out EFTUniverse, Gary Craig’s site, emofree, and Nick Ortner’s The Tapping Solution, which offer a great deal of background and research, much of which is free. You can also google good information from Brad Yates, Carol Look, Lindsey Kenny, and Steve Wells. There are a lot of tapping videos on YouTube at this point. I trust these particular people and their websites.
