Muscle Testing

There are many different ways to do muscle testing. The best one is the one that works for you. Here is the one that was easiest for me to learn. [True confession: Several people tried to teach me muscle testing, over several years!! I really wanted to learn how to do it. This one worked.] If you can’t make this work for you, look for a chiropractor or other person who does applied kinesiology, or please be in touch with me. Learning how to do muscle testing is very helpful, it takes time, and not everyone can do it.
This particular way of doing muscle testing is called the Sway Test.

  • Stand up, bend your knees a little, and/or shake yourself a little to loosen your body up just a bit, and say: “My name is _______ (whatever your real name is).
  • Feel yourself sway forward just a tiny bit. You are not consciously moving yourself forward, rather, you are feeling your body moving itself forward, just a little bit.
  • Now, say: “My name is George” (unless your name is George, then say, my name is Martha), and feel yourself sway backwards, just a little bit.
  • Assuming you did feel that small motion, you can successfully do muscle testing for yourself. What this gives you is the ability to ask your body what it wants, using yes/no questions. The more you use this practice, the more clear the answers will be. There are fundamentally three answers: yes – neutral – no. Sometimes the answer is YES! or NO! You will start feeling the difference between no and NO! Your body will sway much more for NO or YES. If your body stays in the middle, the answer is either “it doesn’t matter” or “this question is irrelevant right now.”
Once you have worked with this technique, you have a valuable tool to answer your question: should I eat this right now, or, should I do this right now? You always ask the question in a yes/no format, but it can be either “should I eat this” or “I should eat this” and you can add time elements. So it could be “I should eat this right now,” or “I should do this exercise today” or “I should take this supplement this week.” Since “should” is something like a swear word for many people, another way of stating this is: “This food is good for me this week” or “this food is what my body wants right now.” What is important is that it is very specific, and can be answered with a yes or no.
Play around with looking at the food in your kitchen, pointing to a particular food, and saying “I should eat this right now” and seeing what the answer is. Sometimes I am hungry, and I will go into the kitchen not having any idea of what I should eat. I start out with “I should eat protein” and then “I should eat carbs” and then “I should eat fats” – if all of those are answered “No!” with the muscle testing, then I start asking, “I should drink water now” and perhaps, “I should tap now” because what is really going on is that I am bored, not hungry at all!
But perhaps “fats” got the yes. Then I will look at avocado, coconut oil, nut butters and so on to see what particular fat my body wants right now.
Can you use this to help with making other decisions in your life? Absolutely! Enjoy!
___ I can muscle test!! woohoo!!!

___ I can’t seem to do this muscle testing!! If you have tried going through the steps, and it just is not working for you, here is what I would like you to do. Learn tapping, try tapping a couple of rounds using the phrases: “even though I can’t get this muscle testing to work for me…” and “even though I am upset/angry/irritated that I can’t get this muscle testing to work for me…” Then try going through the steps one more time. If that doesn’t do it, please be in contact with me.
